Reliable “Flashback Table” Using LogMiner

At last year's DOAG I talked about how we built a Save / Restore Solution for a large legacy application which uses a simulated IDS2-(Host-)database on top of Oracle.
I also talked about how we used Oracle Flashback technology and the struggle we went through until we had a working solution.
Sadly, I have to report one year later that the solution didn’t make it to production.
The flashback technology has too many restrictions as of 19c.
At present we are using Oracle LogMiner which up to now seems to be the most flexible and easy to use alternative.

I would like to talk about:
- What went wrong?
- technical limitations that forced us to stop working with Flashback
- How Oracle Support was involved and “helped”
- Status and usability of Flashback, FBDA, LogMiner in 19c (19.10)
- How we built a more reliable flashback solution using Oracle LogMiner
